Overcoming Mechanical Difficulties

A friend told me that your 1st year living full time in an rv on the road traveling is by far the hardest. So many various ends have to all come together, especially for us solo-ers. I have endeavored to try and make the most of it, isn't that what retirement is all about ? With some help from a local shop, and a met-friend here at the rv park "Zack"... we have I think brought both vehicles up to where reliability is not an issue. I think I did ok in acquiring both of these vehicles within not a years time. Now you can call me crazy for choosing Dinosaur trucks of 20 years old, with 312k Red and 260k Blue as of this writing. They both share the 7.3 and the, f350, and 4x4, and same cab, but different rear ends. They both have a specific job to do, and so far they have both done it well. I am so proud of my red truck, because let's be real - she had the by far hardest job of any. A 300k mile dual wheel F350 bought over in Georgia not 6 months ago. All I have done is change the oil and clean her up a bit. And of-course added that wretched 5th wheel hitch, which was a job from hell. But here she is old red gal finally hitched up to the 40 foot 5th wheel. We left Alabama and drove 4 straight days to arrive in Cortez Colorado at the very end of summer. Was a trip that I will remember for the rest of my life. What an amazing 4 days of my life. But this red truck with very little fuss towed this massive 5th wheel across 7 states, some 2,000 miles, through the heat of summer across Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado. Up and over the Continental Divide and several 10k mnt passes. Cant say enough good things about that red truck. But I digress, these old gals as I call them; deserve the best and they have demanded it. Seems that you must buy genuine Ford Motorcraft parts for these old war horses. I guess they deserve it but like anything in this current world. It is expensive and it still isn't easy to find someone to do the proper work. With all that said; it has taken me awhile to get these 2 trucks back in the game so to speak. By that I mean where nothing is glaringly wrong with either. For those that know me realize that I do Not like to take unnecessary chances. But I also Must learn to go with the flow and work on my main focus of these future years ahead. And that is to learn how to live without Stress and Anxiety. It is a daily struggle, for someone that should not have a care in the world to a person that has lived with stress in their daily lives for far too long. I endeavor to try hard to live my life to the fullest. But I must first find a way to try and find a tedious balance of all this materialistic stuff, and the more important metaphysical world that we all seek ...... To live in that Now, with the Then kept in it's proper place ...

Blue Truck decides to be stubborn.

All was going as prepared as I was finally starting my journey of leaving Cortez Colorado, and were headed to my next stop off in Mexican Hat Utah. Blue was towing Adventure trailer when the truck started cutting out and just died on me going down the road. Blue would start back up after a minute or 2 but eventually this developed into a pattern of intermittent no start and dying....not much fun it was. But within every dark cloud is hopefully a silver lining, it's at times like this that sometimes it is very hard to find that positive or silver lining. This situation called for an expensive tow truck even though I was only 30 miles outside of Cortez. Tow truck had to come from all the way over in Durango, as Cortez does not have a single wrecker truck in town...smh....at this pint is where I threw in the towel and had Blue Truck put in the shop for a system's wide diagnosis, with whatever treatment or worn out parts needing repairing. I was determined to get Blue truck back as reliable as she has been up until this point.
